Sitting on balcony in the morning, digesting food. A most important part of any mobile creatures day. In the distance can be seen the place where water meets the land, a determining spot created about 12,000 years ago.
The last ice age finished about that time, over a period that is referred to as the great flood, in cultures founded around and after that time, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean mostly, but also in other coastal dwelling humans stories.
My belief is that said stories are based on fact, but changed over time to inculcate and evoke a religious theme to keep the proles in line. After all, humans are a superstitious lot and those with power have always yielded knowledge over those who have no knowledge, except for taught and hand me down beliefs.
Humans are herding animals, like other mammals, and whilst the ice age kept the packs to hunting and gathering, when the ice began to melt and once bountiful lands for such foods diminished as the water rose, humans began to try to grow their own food. It would have been a trial by failure, but success was gained and the first civilisations began to form. The herding instinct helped create the first towns, as those without wanted what those who had.
Over those breaking years of civilisation, fire forged the new tools for farming, defense, conquest, and with time now in their hands, those early civilisations retold their stories, made Gods, remembered floods, created extended life.
Etruscans, Greeks, Romans, British, all have made great civilisations that have gathered knowledge, passed it onto new generations, created better lives and livelihoods, increased the human genome and made greater order out of chaos.
The aim of life is to create an image of yourself to keep your RNA and DNA immortal, humans have far outshone all the other mammals in creating a better model over the passage of time. What we have and can do now would seem like Gods to those from 12,000 years ago. The simplest being fire in your pocket, to cook the food, to light the night, to show the way.
So a cooked meal and ice in your drink, the epitome of desires.

Chocolate Peanut M & M's and Writing
Stuck in a self imposed semi-isolation, pleasures are limited, Chocolate peanut M & M's, fresh fruit, copious amounts of water, Foxtel and Netflix by the bucket load, writing this tosh.
Other more exciting things in the afternoon, Zooming with friends, beer or wine, or both, a bit of social distancing by electron power. Thank God we still have carbon powered electricity, going the way of sun and wind would be the death of a lot more people.
The TV networks are loving this, any news is Corona, Corona, Convid 19, Convid 19, lock down, lock down, Don't Panic. MAFS seems delightful compared to the news.
Just watched Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood, that is 2 odd hours I will never get back. Tarantino needs to hire decent script writers, DiCaprio needs to start some decent acting, Pitt needs to stop being Pitt in all things, Pacino obviously need a few million to do his worst, Robbie did well with limited exposure and bugger all script.
My view, the PC brigade has thrown Hollywood to the wolves, the carcase is now bereft of flesh, like a zombie, going through the brain dead movements. There have been some good stories recently, just go Eastwood, Willis, Woods, Stallone, Gibson, et al, my blog, my views.
The Zooming was good, manners have to be learn again as interruptions on electron media are vastly different than in person ones, a bit of time and listening is good for all of us.
Books, am reading a tome about Lachlan Macquarie, Governor-General of NSW and other areas, back in the colonial days, from 1809 till 1821. The book I chose was written in 1987, and it flows with great story and many big and varied words that tell a great tale, bare and real. Macquarie took his responsibility well and transformed a penal colony into a vibrant and well to do mercantile colony, complete with courts, rule of law, town planning, and many other credits. A dour and dedicated Scot did his best and succeeded where others failed.
What did also help greatly was the introduction of currency with coin, the previous rule under Bligh had failed as the only currency was Rum, hence the Rum rebellion. Humans will use anything for currency, I have written of this before, and filthy lucre, the pound, the dollar, the rupee, the yuan, will always act to help further society as it is the universal exchange.
Gotta go now, Zooming on a Sunday arvo is calling.

Another Time Period - More History
A Beautiful day, rain overnight, sun shining, vitamin D and a blue sky are the best supplements.
The world still turns as a repressive regime lays onto most humans, at the hands of their fellow humans.
Nature instils its own peril on sapiens, the new flu is continuing apace and is spreading its tentacle further and afar.
Bustling metropolis and regional towns and even rural areas are all in some form of shutdown and social dislocation, the sounds of silence are increasing as the normal sounds of progress subside. Each day brings some new privation, the screws of overlords bringing further edicts.
At least you can still buy pretty much as possible the grog you need or want or wish to stock. Food is in abundance at the supermarkets so the vessel can be filled multiple times a day. Exercise alone is as simple as a minute long squat, a protracted push up, a series of chin ups.
Writing whilst on the deck, looking north to open sea, the comfort of fresh watermelon as the juices stain both fingers and chin, some chilled water to help wash down the seasonal fruit. What can be heard are the sounds of neighbours, the chirping of birds, the drumming of cicadas, the occasional motor vehicle, buzzing of insects, barking dogs, the roar of a jet engine drowns out all as it hastens it way to destination.
All senses are active and enjoyed.
Feeding the mind is also important, reading and writing are interspersed with the other senses as above.
The sun snakes across the sky as the world turns, life is good.

Life in The Time of Virus
26th March 2020 and life goes on. We now have shutdowns, lockouts, social distancing, buying restrictions, and on and on.
This means the Internet Age, the Electronic Age, the Electron Age, the Age of Dislocation, whatever you want to call it, is here, and it is coming on hard.
Governments in first world nations are mostly shutting down economic activity, 2nd world nations are following suit to stay in touch, 3rd world nations are doing who knows what and lying to hell and back about the issue.
Here in Oz, we are seeing millions laid off and seeking reprieve from Centrelink, in fact being told to by our Government/s, spending so far will be in the realm of $90 billion to whatever gazillion. My conspiracy theory on that is we were already in recession, just denied about it, so go in and go hard to cover it up. No Hayek there, just pure Keynes.
Communication between humans is down to nods and phone calls, unless, yes, what the internet was invented for originally. Video conferencing, Zoom being one application, a person can talk to multiple others with vision with no chance of virus spread. There is also Skype, Blue Jeans, Citrix, ClickMeeting, Teams, and multiple others. Some cost, some free, some high quality, yada yada.
So enough of this flying around to Davos or wherever, sit at home, dial up whomever and work out your shit. This is the new time travel, albeit it not in person but in electron form on your phone, tablet, laptop or computer. Pretty soon it will be on your TV, and abracadabra, Back to the Future II.
Time to enjoy the isolation with a phone in one hand, a beer in the other and a cigarette somewhere in between.

The Abyss- And Beyond

We are again at the beyond stage - death and destruction, despair and desire, to live beyond the current crisis.
TV is the worst as far as reporting:-
Channel 2
SBS
Channel 10
Channel 7
Channel 9
Sky.
In order of worst to less worst. Can we let our Federal Government with their supposed best advice get on with the job, doing their best with advice and effort, I may be critical of all but someone has to do something to try to stop the spread. We could let it rip, that is a choice. Or we could try to contain, that is also a choice.
Let this go forward, trust in authority and advice, stop carping.
It does and will have a resolve, pray for that with minimum impact, what is will be.
What starts will finish, the crisis will end.

Into the Abyss - How a Police State is Started
Well well, it is Monday 23rd March 2020, the Police State of Australia is being evoked federally, statewide, and local council shutdowns.
The entire population of Australia is being advised federally to minimise contact or adventure or going out or just about anything except Netflix.
Pubs to be closed.
Clubs to be closed.
Nightclubs to be closed.
Gyms to be closed.
Cafes to be closed.
Restaurants to be closed.
Cinemas to be closed.
Schools to be kept open, so students can be trained that their parents are contagious and bad, bad Mum, bad Dad, bad Grandma, Bad Grandpa, bad everybody except the left leaning teachers who have been itching for such bureaucratic control over the youngest and most insecure.
So here we are, with borders shut down, albeit not literally but figuratively, the "State" being involved in paying those affected, increasing a reliance on welfare, determining who can be open and who has to close all to reduce the spread of a virus that will inevitably affect about 60% of the population, all in the attempt to not swamp the health system, that is not up to scratch for this sort of epidemic/pandemic, with ailing older people, all because well because.
Our rights trampled, our needs dismissed, our wants denied, but only a should, not a must. So basically we can still do what we want but the herd mentality does cut in and most will comply with the request to deny.
How long will it last is a piece of string, and that is what the bureaucrats want, control over your very being, from cradle to grave, power for powers sake. The hardest part will be wresting control over things once the nation gets back to some normality.

New World Order - again
Well here we are in March 2020, the world is still turning, the sun is still rising and setting, the moon is still phasing, people are still panicking as they have always done.
My Sharona, should be back in the music charts, unfortunately it is my Carona that is making the news, endlessly.
On the radio, on the TV, on the internet, on world famous blogs, even here now.
Chicken little is all the rage, we are all doomed, life as we know it will end, the collapse of civilisation.
Let us dissect a few things about the world at the moment.
China is still rising, unfortunately the population still like to eat all things small or big, this has caused an outbreak of a new strain of flu.
Bats are filthy creatures, carrying diseases such as rabies, SARS, ebola and others, unlike your typical dog, cat, or goldfish. You should not eat bats, just a bit too risky (or your dog, cat or goldfish cause they are pets).
So a new flu strain has crossed from bats to humans, and the sneezing, coughing, expectorating and touchy humans are readily passing it around like a parcel at an Irish gathering.
This new strain - Covid 19 (Carona Virus) - has now made its way across to hundreds of countries with a mortality rate of between 2 and 4 per cent of infected. Fairly dire for the elderly infected, but not so much for the other members of society.
So the western world is shutting down all contactable areas, airlines, clubs, pubs, gatherings, parties, workplaces, just about everything.
Not that this will stop infection, it will slow the rate, and this will stop health authorities being swamped by infected. That is all this crackdown is doing, slowing down the infection rate.
So the western world is throwing their economies into the fire to slow down the spread of a disease that will do its thing and infect a lot and then burn itself out. Well done western world, panic to ensure there is no panic, all because we do not have the health facilities to cope with a rush of patients.
Well I guess that the underlying recession that is already infecting the western world allows the western world parliaments to use the virus and the excessive curtailments as a reason to blame for said recession, even if it means throwing the economy under a bus.
All we need now is for the lies and abuse to come from China, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba et al, regarding how well socialist/communist/hybrid states weathered the storm.
